As part of the city’s Sugar Smart campaign – aimed to raise awareness and reduce sugar consumption – the Food Partnership is offering informative Sugar Smart workshops to highlight where sugar is hiding and tips for how to have a healthier diet. New Note Strummers Guitar Group: Weekly 20 January - 28 April 2017

New Note Strummers is open to anyone who is in recovery from addiction. It’s designed for beginners through to people who want to develop their playing and songwriting skills. The guitar group which encourages you to play, strum and compose your own music. There will be songwriting tips, support and help with restringing your guitar. The group is open to all guitars including acoustic, electric and bass. Some guitars will be provided but if you have one then please bring it along. Free to attend.

Dementia Friendly Gardening Group: Weekly 28 February - 28 November 2017

Weekly gardening group for people with mild to moderate dementia and their carers.  The group provides gentle, regular activity with a friendly group and a chance to build confidence. Gardening is a wonderful activity to help improve wellbeing, get outdoors and take time to notice nature.  There is a heated indoor space on site for tea breaks and in case of poor weather. Participants join for up to 3 months. Free to attend.

Family Shape Up is a free 6-week healthy lifestyle group programme for 6-13 year olds who are above their ideal weight and their families. We will guide and help your family learn about healthy eating through fun activities and offer practical tips on topics such as eating well, food portion sizes and building healthier habits. Friendly activity leaders are there to support and encourage the children to join in with games and promote physical activity in a fun and safe environment. Free to attend.

Cooking on a Budget is a five week cookery course, for adults of all ages, full of tasty recipes and tips for keeping healthy and happy even when time is short and money is tight. For anyone who could do with some new ideas of how to eat cheaply and well. Cook and eat delicious meals from chilli to chowder, minestrone to mushroom risotto. Free to attend.
